First Article Inspection Report Template
Record CNC part measurements against a specific drawing revision. The workbook compares each measurement with its lower and upper limits and flags any out-of-tolerance result.
Record and review first article measurements
1. Identify the sample
Enter the part number, revision and order or lot on the Report summary sheet. Choose one to three samples per feature and record their IDs in measurement order.
2. Enter limits and measurements
Use one row per numbered feature. Enter the absolute drawing limits, gauge or method and measured values for each selected sample.
3. Review exceptions
Review failed and incomplete rows on the summary. Record the disposition, reviewer and any deviation, corrective action or reinspection reference.
4. Keep the inspection record
Use Other checks to record visual, functional, finish, material certificate, traceability or packaging requirements. Link evidence by reference and save it with the report.
Check the through-hole diameter
Feature 04 on the example mounting plate is a through-hole specified as Ø8.00 mm with a +0.05/0.00 mm tolerance. The acceptable range is 8.000–8.050 mm. Sample 1 measures 8.040 mm and is within limits. Sample 2 measures 8.070 mm, which is 0.020 mm above the upper limit, so the feature is flagged as a failure.
The example uses illustrative measurements. The dimensional sheet checks measured values against drawing limits. Use the Other checks sheet to record the evidence and decision for requirements you assess separately.
