How the Quote Calculator Works
The calculator gives you an immediate indicative price so you can budget your project. Every quote is then reviewed by our engineering team before the final price is confirmed.
What the Indicative Price Includes
The calculator price covers the manufacturing scope below. Items outside this scope (such as shipping or non-standard requirements) are quoted separately after engineering review.
| Included in Calculator Price | Quoted Separately |
|---|---|
| Raw material (standard alloys and plastics) | Shipping (DDP, FOB, EXW available) |
| CNC machining (milling, turning, drilling, tapping) | Customs duties and import taxes |
| Standard surface finishes (as configured) | Tooling for special operations (if required) |
| First article inspection (FAI) | Material certificates (MTC, on request) |
| Dimensional inspection report | Custom packaging beyond standard options |
| Standard packaging | Salt spray, hardness, or accelerated aging tests |
All prices are ex-factory Dongguan (EXW Incoterms). Shipping cost depends on destination, weight, volume, and Incoterms. We provide shipping cost separately in the final confirmed quote.

What the Calculator Cannot Quote Instantly
The calculator handles standard CNC machined parts in standard materials and finishes. The following projects need engineering review before we can provide a meaningful price.
-
5-axis simultaneous machiningComplex curved surfaces requiring true 5-axis simultaneous toolpaths. The calculator handles 3-axis and 3+2 setups; full 5-axis needs a manual quote.
-
Multi-process assembliesProjects requiring CNC + injection molding + overmolding + assembly. The calculator quotes machining only. Multi-process projects need a unified quote covering all operations.
-
Ultra-tight tolerances (below ±0.005 mm)Parts requiring tolerances tighter than standard precision (±0.01 mm) or special inspection methods. These need engineering review to determine the right machining strategy.
-
Exotic materialsTitanium, Inconel, Hastelloy, Kovar, Invar, and other specialty alloys. Material sourcing and machining strategies vary significantly; we quote these case-by-case.
-
Very large parts (over 1 m in any dimension)Parts requiring our long-bed milling machine (up to 1.8 m). The calculator handles standard envelope (800x600x500 mm); larger parts need manual quoting.
-
Production volumes above 1,000 piecesFor high-volume production, we often recommend hybrid approaches (extrusion + CNC, die casting + CNC) that reduce per-part cost significantly. We quote these manually to find the optimal approach.
For these projects, send your drawings via our standard quote form. Engineering response within 24-48 hours with a detailed quote and DFM review.
Why Use Davantech’s Quote Calculator
-
Free DFM review with every quoteOur engineers review every quote request, not just the high-value ones. We flag tolerance stack issues, thin walls, difficult features, and finishing compatibility before you commit. Most quotes include cost-reduction suggestions.
-
Factory-direct pricingDavantech is the factory, not a trading company. The calculator prices come from our actual production costs in Dongguan, not from a markup over a third-party quote. No middleman, no commission, no surprise invoices.
-
Belgian engineering managementEuropean leadership manages production daily in our Chinese factory. The engineers reviewing your quote understand Western drawings, tolerances, and quality expectations. Communication in English with same-day response.
-
NDA available on requestIf your design is confidential, request an NDA before uploading. We sign mutual NDAs for sensitive projects. Your files are stored on secured servers and never shared with third parties.
Quote Calculator Questions
Is the calculator price the final price?
No. The calculator returns an indicative price based on standard rates. Every quote is reviewed by our engineering team for manufacturability, tolerance challenges, and cost-reduction opportunities. The final confirmed quote is sent within 24 hours and may differ from the indicative price, usually with explanations and DFM suggestions to lower the cost.
Does the price include shipping?
No. All calculator prices are ex-factory Dongguan (EXW Incoterms). Shipping cost depends on destination, weight, volume, and chosen Incoterms (DDP, FOB, EXW). We provide shipping cost separately in the final confirmed quote based on your delivery address and preferred mode (air or sea).
What file format should I upload?
STEP (.step or .stp) is preferred because it preserves all geometry and is universally readable. IGES (.iges or .igs) is also accepted. 2D drawings (PDF or DXF) can be attached separately for tolerance and surface finish callouts that aren’t in the 3D model.
What if I don’t have a 3D model yet?
If you have only 2D drawings, a sketch, or a sample part, use our standard quote form instead. Our engineering team creates production-ready 3D models from your inputs. 3D modelling is included free with every quote.
How accurate is the indicative price?
For standard CNC parts in standard materials, the indicative price is typically within 10-20% of the final confirmed price. Complex parts with tight tolerances, demanding surface finishes, or unusual geometry can differ more. We always explain the reasons for any difference in the confirmed quote.
Is my design information confidential?
Yes. Uploaded files are stored on our secured servers and accessed only by the engineering team reviewing your quote. We do not share your files with third parties. For sensitive projects, request a mutual NDA before uploading. We have supplied European and North American OEMs for 15+ years without IP incidents.
What if my part isn’t supported by the calculator?
The calculator handles standard CNC machined parts. For 5-axis machining, multi-process assemblies, ultra-tight tolerances, exotic materials, very large parts, or production volumes above 1,000 pieces, use our standard quote form for a manually-engineered quote.
Do I have to commit to the indicative price?
No. The calculator is free and there is no obligation. The final confirmed quote within 24 hours is also free. You only commit when you place a purchase order with the confirmed price.
How long is the confirmed quote valid?
Confirmed quotes are typically valid for 30 days from the date issued. Material prices fluctuate, especially for stainless steel, titanium, and copper-based alloys. For longer projects, we can extend validity on request or lock in pricing with a confirmed PO.
